Kayak Seats
Kayak seats are attached to the kayak by connecting the straps from the seat to both the front and the rear of the kayak's seat well. They are often made quite wide to accommodate all sizes of paddlers. However, not everybody is the same size, and for this reason, kayak seats are not always as comfortable as they could be.
Some of the most common users of kayak seats are fishermen. The old adage of "A seat is a seat is a seat" doesnothold true when you're in the kayak fishing seat for an extended day of fishing. I would have to say a kayak fishing seat must be comfortable and have additional storage with rings to hold additional items compared to other kayak seats. A good fishing seat will have provisions for these, a regular kayak seat may not. Many kayak seats are poorly designed, or at best they may fit the designer well but not allow much adjustment for other body types and sizes.
Flat water racing kayak seats are raised for optimal application of power to the paddle stroke at the expense of stability. Most kayak seats are comfortable enough, but occasionally you'll encounter one with an uncomfortable projection in the centre or a high front lip, which cuts off circulation. Not all kayak seats are created equal. Additionally, kayak seats are conventionally adjustable by unbolting and rebolting the seats in a desired position to accommodate the kayaker. The kayak seats are leveled higher than the foot-well area to provide increased comfort, improved paddling position and self-bailing. However, conventional kayak seats are generally designed for those paddlers who desire the  lowestpossible leg position and/or for paddlers having large thighs.
Most people will not have any trouble with the kayak seats that come standard as a part of their kayak but if you find that your kayak seats are not as comfortable as you'd like them to be, don't worry. There are stores that sell custom made seats which you can order if you need a more comfortable kayak seat. There are several different reasons why you might want to get one of these. For instance, people who are a little bit shorter than average could order a kayak seat that is a little taller than most. Since you can get the seat designed to fit your body specifically, it's more likely that the seat will be comfortable for you.
There are some other benefits to buying kayak seats. For instance, most of these are made out of materials that float. As a result, some kayak seat manufacturers list their seats as possible floatation devices in the event of an emergency. Whether your trouble is that you're too tall, too short, or simply uncomfortable in your kayak, a seat will definitely help. Just make sure that you order a kayak seat with the right dimensions for you and kayaking will become much easier and more enjoyable than it was before For comfort, a kayak seat must provide more than adequate padding on the bottom of the seat so your legs don't get their circulation cut-off, causing your legs to go to sleep. Just like anything else, you usually get what you pay for.
Air support seats that slip over the existing seat and inflate as required are another good bet. You’ll get more support from a high back seat, so they’re a good idea for anyone with back problems or if you’re planning a long journey.
Comfort and support are the key factors in what determine a good kayak seat. A good adjustable strap system will allow for more control over comfort and support. In other words, the more your body is cradled and supported, the less pressure is on any one area.
